Rustic Charm and a Gorgeous Backdrop Define the Cottage at Ravines

An intimate space with a stunning backdrop is how Vanessa Snelgrove-Gould, RedWater Events sales director, describes The Cottage at Ravines Golf Club, a modern yet cozy event space located on the 500-acre Arnold Palmer championship golf course in Saugatuck.

With beautiful hardwood floors, a fireplace, floor-to-ceiling picture windows on three sides, French doors, and high-ceilings, the Cottage offers a rustic and elegant feel for any event. “The natural light that comes into the venue is just stunning,” says Leanne Stoll, the marketing director at RedWater Events, the hospitality group that runs the Cottage. Brides will also love that the Cottage has its own dedicated dressing room suite, which features three LED-lit mirrored vanities and on-trend décor.

“You just walk in, and it feels comfortable,” Snelgrove-Gould says. “And it doesn’t have that feeling of a huge ballroom. It really works so well for that 100 to 150 mark because the [couples] feel like they get to see everyone at the reception, and they’re not looking 20 tables away. It just has such a cozy feeling, and it’s just so uniquely set up. I don’t think we have any other venues like it, and I think that’s why people like it. It’s on trend with the feel of what people want right now.”

Its location near the golf course’s 18^th green is ideal, giving it a private and secluded setting. The space holds up to 175 guests and has become popular for smaller gatherings. The vistas from within showcase the beauty of the property with rolling hills, pine trees, and maple trees making up the scenery. “The views at all of our properties are the star,” Stoll says.

For ceremonies, an outdoor location set off a cart path is picturesque. Snelgrove-Gould says, “I keep thinking of the word intimate, but it’s just the best word to describe it. It just feels like you are the only ones at the property when you’re at the ceremony space. It’s really just tucked right in. And we provide the arbor and the chairs and have some power out there for a sound system.”

Stoll adds, “We really focus on the one stop shop for our weddings so that we can take care of everything for people — from the ceremony and the reception to the food and beverages. Really to make it easy for all of our couples that come into the venue.”
