“An all-inclusive feel with a DIY concept” — that’s how Jennifer Rickaby describes 2Gather, a stunning event venue just 30 miles north of Detroit. Opened in 2019, 2Gather is unlike most venues with its unique approach to event planning and its gorgeous, wooded Auburn Hills setting.

“We provide all the main wedding day essentials — tables, chairs, set up, tear down, and our team of event specialists to help with the planning process,” says Rickaby, the venue’s general manager. The venue, which she labels as “elegant and modern,” can accommodate up to 225 guests, features an outdoor patio space with bistro lights, a dedicated chapel with an outdoor arbor, photo-ready sites including a rock wall and wooded area, a groom suite with a pool table and big-screen TVs, a bright and airy bridal suite, and a beautiful hardwood-floor ballroom with loads of windows, tall ceilings and even an interchangeable ceiling. “We have a few different ceiling packages that we can change out. We have Edison bulbs. We have different styles of draping, different types of chandeliers, greenery wreaths, and lighted backdrops. So, we could have a wedding on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and each of them have a different ceiling. It’s really neat!”

If you thought changing out the ceiling was cool, they also create a personalized Instagram reel for each couple with highlights from their wedding day. Featured in their new wedding package collections, the videos have been a hit ever since. “On the day, we will take behind the scenes video and photo content, and then we’ll put together a 60-second highlight film with an audio that makes sense for that particular couple, and we’ll post it within a week of their wedding day.”

2Gather offers three different wedding package collections (“all of them include all your main wedding day essentials”) and they’re also an open vendor venue, so couples can choose their choice of caterer, DJ, photographer, bar service, and more. While Rickaby does offer each of her clients a rockstar vendor list, the choice in the end is up to the couple. “Quite a bit of my time is spent on business development and creating relationships with our various vendor partners, so that way we have a huge selection of vendors, of all different styles and price ranges and budgets,” she says. “And then we can kind of put them together and say, ‘Hey, you’ve got this great, beautiful space. Now let’s build your dream team of vendors to go with it.’”

Its Rickaby’s relationships with various vendors that actually led to the venue hosting their second annual 2Gather Wedding Expo on March 10th. “We started it last year and we had such a great turnout that we’re ready to do it again,” says Rickaby. This year, the expo will feature more than 35 beloved Metro Detroit vendors in various categories. “You can come out and plan your dream wedding,” Rickaby says.
