Designing The Perfect Bathroom Basket

By Published On: February 29, 2024

I know, it seems silly, right? Placing energy, time and finances into your guests’ bathroom experience? I know it feels excessive, but I promise your guests will notice. You will notice. After all, attention to detail is where your personality stands out. As a wedding guest, I know that the restroom is occasionally a space where I will go to take a break from the noise, commotion and crowd of a lively party. Sometimes it is a place where I just want to sit in the lounge area and take off my shoes for a minute. Maybe guests wander in there to check makeup, hair, and outfits. Whatever the purpose, bathroom baskets are there to ensure the utmost comfort of your guests. We’ve put together this list of ideas to include in the perfect bathroom basket on your special day!

Rescue Flats

Rescue Flats are a brand of flat ballet shoes that come in a pretty, black display box with a variety of sizes including Small (US Women’s 6-7), Medium (US women’s 8-9), and Large (US Women’s 10-11). There are a variety of neutral colorways available to choose from with price points ranging from $250 to $300 for a box of twenty pairs. You can also DIY your own box of flats from any inexpensive ballet-style shoe that ranges in sizes from small to large. Rescue your female guests from the confines of uncomfortable footwear and give them a sweet gift to dance the night away and take home for future parties!

Flip Flops

In the same category as Rescue Flats, the generic flip flop will do the same job of rescuing your guests from long nights in blistering heels! These are a more cost-effective option for thrifty couples on a budget. You can always combine the two footwear options by buying one box of Rescue Flats and supplementing the rest with flip flops! Old Navy sells a pack of 50 partially-recycled plastic flip flops for $140, though you can find tons of options, colors, and price points between Amazon, Etsy, and local retailers!

Medical Items

A small assortment of first-aid items is essential for your bathroom box. Anything from antacids, anti-inflammatories, and pain medications to cough drops and cramp relievers may help your guests combat any combination of ailments on your big day. This will keep them ready to celebrate despite any potential challenges than may arise! Alcohol wipes, band-aids, and cotton swabs can help with any superficial cuts, scrapes and bumps without the need to ask venue staff for assistance.

Contact Lens Kit

For guests who wear contacts and may have to deal with dry eyes, dirt, and dropped lenses, a kit including contact lens cases, contact solution, and eye drops may be perfect to let them know that they are being thought of!

Period Kits

For guests who menstruate, a period kit is necessary. There’s nothing worse than an unexpected guest arriving, especially if you’re ill-prepared! Period kits can include an assortment of period items, including tampons, pads, discs, disposable period panties, cleansing wipes, Midol or cramp-relief medication, and even possibly cheap pairs of variety pack spare panties in assorted sizes. You can make this as complicated or simple as you want, but ensure your guests are prepared for every situation with a variety of comfort products to choose from!

Cosmetics

Cosmetics can include a variety of items from mini-makeup kits, hairspray, dry shampoo, and hairbrushes to deodorant, lotion, and nail kits. Mini-makeup kits can include eyeliner, mascara, lipstick, lip balm, and makeup remover to cover the essentials for your guests to touch up their look. Nail kits can include clippers, files and even nail glue in the event of a guest losing a nail somehow during the evening. The travel section of your local convenience stores carry an amazing assortment of mini-items that would be perfect for individualized kits. For outdoor weddings, sunscreen is another must have bathroom basket item!

Oral Care

Ensure your guests are feeling fresh with a selection of oral care items! This can include mini-mouthwash bottles (or a large one accompanied by paper cups), toothpicks, gum, and mini-flossers. Your guests will thank you for your intuitive thinking after they enjoy a delicious wedding meal and can escape to the restroom for a brief refresh and smile check!

Clothing Rescue Kit

A small assortment of clothing rescue items might just be a lifesaver! Safety pins, scissors, stain remover, lint rollers, and a small sewing kit could just save the day in the event of a wardrobe malfunction. Your guests will thank you for thinking ahead.

This may seem like a lot to include in your bathroom basket, but it’s better to be well-prepared than ill-prepared! In the unfortunate circumstance that you need any of these items, you’ll be so grateful you thought of them ahead of time. We promise, your guests will appreciate and use any number of these items, but if there are any leftovers, don’t worry! You can save them for future gift baskets, encourage guests to take items at the end of the party, or you can even donate unused items to places in need. We hope this list of bathroom-basket ideas inspires you to create the perfect arrangement for your guests on your big day.
