Kalamazoo Wedding Venue Guide
If Kalamazoo holds a special place in your heart — maybe you and your partner met while in school at Western Michigan University or Kalamazoo College, or had your first date at Bell’s Brewery — of course you’d want to continue your love story by getting married there! We’re here to help you choose which venue is your perfect match.
The Vintage Rose Barn
Craving a countryside vibe for your Kalamazoo wedding? The Vintage Rose Barn could be your place. Less than 15 miles outside of the city, its location is easily accessible for guests coming from just about anywhere in Michigan. With 2400 square feet of enclosed space in the barn and a large deck, this venue has space for seating up to 225 dinner guests with additional tables available upon request. The barn has five magnificent chandeliers for your guests to dance under. There are two special spaces (a cottage and a suite) for each nearlywed and their entourage to get ready for the big moment. Each space is climate controlled and has that countryside charm in their decor. The parking lot has on-site parking attendants and handicap accessible spots close to the barn. Fans and/or heaters will be provided if/when the Michigan weather does what it does. Speaking of Michigan weather, in the event of a power outage, the party can still go on with the help of a back-up generator. Vintage Rose Barn even provides decor and outdoor games (including cornhole, of course)!
Henderson Castle
An actual castle built in the 1800s, Henderson Castle is where your fairytale wedding dreams become reality. You could hold your ceremony in the beautifully maintained garden and gazebo (or tent), on the rooftop with jaw-dropping views of Kalamazoo, or in the ballroom. With capacity for up to 200 guests, the property also has rooms for 32 guests to spend the night and enjoy special-made brunch the next morning. A few of the rooms are extra special, as they are Tower Rooms. Dreamy, right!? The Kings Tower and Queens Tower both have their own bathrooms and are exquisitely decorated so you can feel like you are stepping back in time in your very own castle. The Kings Tower even includes a spiral staircase straight out of every princess-obsessed kid’s dreams. Two more unique treats here are the stunning vineyard on the grounds and the Wine Cave for those wine connoisseurs out there. Once you’ve tasted your favorite wines underground, you can head upstairs to the Chophouse restaurant for a casual meal or for the iconic 12-course Chef’s Tasting Menu. If the beautiful rooms, gorgeous views, exquisite gardens, delectable wines, and delicious food somehow aren’t swaying you, they also have a spa and a hot tub on the roof.
The Kalamazoo Loft
If downtown Kalamazoo is your ideal wedding location, look no further than The Kalamazoo Loft. They offer options for your big day whether you want them to host just the ceremony, the reception, or both. They boast the best all around value for the area, saving you your hard-earned money. They offer a special wedding arch, sound system, piano, suites for each nearlywed to get ready, staff to set up for the ceremony and/or reception, seating for up to 115 guests (for reception and ceremony), and a cocktail lounge set-up. One review says there was “an excellent atmosphere to celebrate our wedding! I highly recommend booking an evening event — the picturesque views of the city only add to the refined beauty of The Kalamazoo Loft. 10/10!”
Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan
If you’d like to be married in a beautiful space AND help local girls learn about and experience the beauty of the outdoors, Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan is the venue for you. Proceeds from venue rentals go directly to Girl Scouts of America, so you can feel good about where your money is going. The spaces (both indoor and outdoor) can accommodate up to 200 guests. This venue is unique, affordable, and a nationally recognized state-of-the-art facility. You wouldn’t think you’d find large indoor space AND large outdoor green space all within 2 miles of downtown Kalamazoo, but here it is! It really is the best of both worlds. With all this space, you have options for your ceremony and your reception. If you planned for any part of the day to be outdoors and inclement weather hits, they easily accommodate you and your guests in their large indoor space. Guests can also comfortably stay overnight in a variety of accommodations. To reduce stress, they offer flexible set-up and tear-down. The distinctive design with exposed wood beams offers a unique and spacious venue for you to gather your friends and family to celebrate you and your love.
Blue Heron Barn
Pairing authentic charm and meticulous modern updates, this venue is one of the most desired wedding venues in West Michigan. Blue Heron Barn is located only 6 miles away from the nearest highway and hotels, making it easily accessible for guests traveling from anywhere. The barn itself offers a massive amount of space (3,100 square feet) for all of your guests to have room to dance the night away, and room to seat 200 guests for the ceremony and dinner. With soaring ceilings, large chandeliers, exposed beams, and an abundance of glass and natural light, the barn is dazzling both day and night. They make every step easy for you with transparent packages and pricing (none of those pesky hidden fees!), affordable bartending services onsite, venue coordinators onsite to help with every single detail, a large selection of decor included, and outdoor ceremony options with an indoor back-up option. The shaded ceremony space overlooks a beautiful babbling brook and a charming wooden bridge, perfect for photo opportunities. One reviewer gushes, “Four years later and our guests are still talking about this place!”
