Idyllic Scenery Sets the Stage at The Pavilion at Waters Edge Golf Course

Situated amongst picturesque rolling hills and four private lakes, Waters Edge Golf Course in Fremont is a scenic destination for weddings year-round. The family-run, 18-hole public course began offering weddings three years ago with the opening of The Pavilion.

James Gorsky, whose family is behind the stunning venue and handles all things brand related at the golf course, says The Pavilion is a “contemporary space with Michigan charm.” Opened in 2021, Gorsky says, “we wanted to have a destination point for weddings in Newaygo County.”

Today, The Pavilion seats up to 200 guests indoors. Four full glass doors open to the outdoors giving sweeping views of two of the property’s private lakes. “I don’t think there’s anywhere else in Newaygo County that would offer this kind of view,” Gorsky says. “If you open the garage doors, you feel like you’re sitting outside.”

High ceilings, cedar and metal details, an open layout, abundant natural light, and modern décor are among the standout features of The Pavilion. On each side of the building, a cement patio allows the party to naturally flow to the outdoors. It’s also a great space to set up tables for cocktail hour. Nearby, an alfresco ceremony site with a waterfront backdrop offers a romantic setting to say “I Do” beneath the included gazebo.

The Pavilion’s location off the ninth hole ensures plenty of photo opportunities for couples and their wedding parties, as does the idyllic setting of rolling green hills, lush natural landscapes, mature trees, bridges, and unparalleled water views. “I will take the bride, groom and wedding party out on the golf course to some of [the course’s] scenic spots to take pictures during the wedding,” Gorsky says “Sometimes they’ll come before the wedding, and we’ll pick the spots out ahead of time or other times they leave it up to me just to take them to those spots. We definitely have scenery that I just don’t think you’re going to find on any other golf course.”

A full bar and an upscale buffet-style dinner compliments of Waters Edge’s beloved restaurant, The Lakes, is also offered for each wedding. “We’ve also done taco bars, hamburger and slider bars and smoked barbecue. It depends on what the bride and groom want,” Gorsky says.

Gorsky also says they are proud to offer an affordable, all-seasons option for couples, as well. “We have air conditioning, we have heating for the wintertime, and with newness of it all and the contemporary feel, you’re just not going to find anywhere else like this,” she says.
