Custom Creations and National Brands Shine at Almassian Jewelers

It’s a family business over at Almassian Jewelers in Grand Rapids where husband and wife duo Trent and Shannon Almassian have been operating their namesake jewelry store since 2006.

For Trent, a Certified Gemologist from the American Gem Society (AGS) and president of Almassian Jewelers, the jewelry business has been in his family for three generations. After graduating from college, he attended the prestigious Gemological Institute of America (GIA). After graduating as a Graduate Jeweler Gemologist, Trent worked in Chicago for five years before returning to his hometown of Grand Rapids to open his beloved namesake boutique with his wife. “When I was a junior in high school, my dad knew that I had interest in the jewelry industry,” Trent says. “As an entrepreneur himself, he encouraged me to start my path to opening my own store.”

Today, Almassian is run by both Trent and Shannon, who is also a Graduate Gemologist and Certified Gemologist. Together, the couple’s extensive, national background — Trent was fortunate to have previously worked at Tiffany & Co. in Southern California and in the diamond district in Chicago, while Shannon not only taught at the GIA as a Graduate Gemology instructor but also gained invaluable experience working with a national jewelry designer in Denver and as as a fine jewelry buyer in Chicago — has provided them the unique ability to bring their client’s some of the world’s top luxury brands and specialty suppliers. From the dazzling styles of Simon G and Spark Creations to the timeless watches of Bell & Ross and Maurice Lacroix, and so many more beloved brands, the glistening glass cases at Almassian sparkle with some of the best in the business.

But it is their ability to also offer custom, one-of-a-kind designs that truly sets this family-run establishment apart. By providing their clients with the finest natural and ethically sourced diamonds and gemstone jewelry, Trent and Shannon are able to bring any vision to life. “No request is too big or too small,” Trent says. As a Graduate Jewelry Gemologist, Trent is able to work closely with each client on all aspects of a custom creation. When the Almassians first opened their boutique in the early 2000s, their goal was to provide their clients access tp an international jewelry scene that previously was unavailable in the area.
