Los Cabos, Mexico, is renowned for its stunning landscapes, azure waters, and luxurious resorts that offer everything from intimate retreats to expansive all-inclusive experiences. During my recent three-day trip to this incredible destination, I had the privilege of visiting three of the most exclusive luxury properties in the region: The Velas Resorts—Mar Del Cabo, Grand Velas Los Cabos, and Grand Velas Boutique Los Cabos. Each property presented its unique blend of luxury, service, and unforgettable experiences for a romantic getaway, private wedding weekend, or the bachelor/ette vacation you will never forget! Here’s a look at each of the properties I had the pleasure of exploring.

For those who have never been to Cabo, I think it is important to explain the geography of the region of Los Cabos. Los Cabos translates to “the two Cabos;” This region encompasses the cities of San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, as well as the Tourist Corridor that connects the two. Both cities are served by the same airport, Los Cabos International Airport, located approximately 30 minutes from San Jose del Cabo and 40 minutes from Cabo San Lucas. San Jose del Cabo, the smaller of the two cities, boasts a thriving art scene, quaint boutique shops, and a relaxed atmosphere. Cabo San Lucas offers a more action-packed holiday with numerous restaurants, bars, and tourist attractions.

All three Velas Resorts lie directly between San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, along the Tourist Corridor, making both cities equally accessible.

Day One: Mar Del Cabo – A Boutique Haven by the Sea

Mar Del Cabo is the smallest of the three properties, with only 46 suites. This boutique hotel offers a serene and exclusive adults-only atmosphere perfect for couples or those looking for an intimate and peaceful getaway.

The Mediterranean and Mexican influences in the property’s design are evident from the moment you arrive. Clean, whitewashed walls, terracotta accents, and lush greenery make you feel like you’ve entered a coastal sanctuary where luxury meets simplicity. For couples looking to host a destination wedding, Mar Del Cabo is a stunning option, with the unique possibility of booking the entire property for an intimate, private wedding weekend for you and your guests, giving you the ultimate in personalized hospitality.

One of the standout experiences at the Velas Properties is the 4-hour yacht and whale-watching excursion on the Velas Resorts-owned 55-foot yacht, Bella. This luxurious journey is included for couples who book a full buy-out of Mar Del Cabo and guests staying in the Presidential, Royal, or Imperial Suites at the nearby Grand Velas Los Cabos or Grand Velas Boutique. Any guest of the properties can also purchase this experience during their stay. Whether sailing past the famous Arch of Cabo San Lucas or witnessing the majestic whales that migrate through the waters, this experience adds an unforgettable touch to any stay. We were able to see whales while enjoying a fabulous, custom lunch, enhanced by Mexican beer and bubbles upon arrival!

Day Two: Grand Velas Los Cabos – Where Luxury Meets the Sea

 

If you’re looking for a grand luxury experience in Los Cabos, Grand Velas Los Cabos should be at the top of your list. This Forbes Five-Star all-inclusive resort is the largest of the three properties I visited and is undoubtedly one of the most impressive in the region. Situated along the pristine coastline of the Sea of Cortez, every room offers sweeping ocean views, making it the perfect escape for anyone wanting to wake up to the sight of the shimmering sea.

 

As the first and only Forbes Five-Star all-inclusive resort in Mexico, Grand Velas Los Cabos offers an unrivaled experience. The all-inclusive nature of the resort means that you can indulge in the finest gourmet dining, world-class amenities, and daily stocked minibars—all included in your stay. This level of luxury is something couples dream of for their guests! Because why shouldn’t it be a fantastic getaway for them, too? And if they have kids, no worries! The resort’s kids and teen clubs are all included in the stay, so sneaking in adult time for your guests is a bonus!

One of the highlights of my visit was the resort’s SE Spa, an award-winning sanctuary offering treatments inspired by authentic Mexican healing traditions. Whether you’re opting for a relaxing massage or a rejuvenating facial, the spa offers a peaceful escape that feels both luxurious and grounded in local culture. Get to the spa at least an hour before your treatment to experience the one-of-a-kind Water Journey . The Water Journey is composed of seven experiences: Sauna, Steam with chromotherapy, Ice room, Sensory shower, Polar pool and jacuzzi, Thermal lounges, and finally, the Sensation pool with various circuits: cascades, bubble bed, multisensory jets, bubble geyser, and warm pool. And this is all before your official treatment! My 50-minute luxury massage was a magical finish to my two-hour spa experience! And, as little Miss Wedding, I was so excited to see the in-spa bridal getting-ready suite. Gurls, just look at these pics:

Dining at Grand Velas is a culinary journey in itself. The resort boasts seven distinct gourmet restaurants, including one with a Michelin Star. From fresh seafood to innovative global cuisine, each restaurant provides a unique dining experience that elevates the concept of all-inclusive luxury. Also impressive were their creative cocktails and mocktails—a must for any celebration!

If you’re planning a destination wedding, Grand Velas Los Cabos has multiple reception and event venues that accommodate everything from intimate ceremonies to large celebrations. With stunning ocean views and top-tier service, your wedding will feel like something out of a dream.

Day Three: Grand Velas Boutique – A Romantic Adults-Only Escape

My final day in Los Cabos took me to Grand Velas Boutique, an adults-only, all-inclusive property designed for those seeking an even more intimate and romantic experience. With just 79 luxurious suites, many featuring plunge pools, Jacuzzis, or fire pits, the property offers a sense of exclusivity and tranquility that’s hard to match. One of the most unique features of the suites at Grand Velas Boutique is the attention to detail in-room amenities. Each room is equipped with Dyson hair stylers and vitamin C-infused shower heads, ensuring a luxurious experience from the moment you step inside.

Beyond the suites, the resort features a botanical-inspired infinity pool that overlooks the Sea of Cortez, creating a picturesque setting to relax and unwind. The beautiful landscape of the pool is the perfect backdrop for taking in the stunning desert-meets-ocean views.

During my visit, I had the opportunity to experience the Mexican Chocolate Tasting—an immersive, delicious journey into the rich flavors of Mexican chocolate paired with Mexican liqueurs to enhance each flavor. The friendly and informative “lesson” on the origin of chocolate in Mexico made the experience even more upscale! This is just one of the resort’s many experiences, including cooking classes, wine tastings, and more. Each experience allows you to truly immerse yourself in the flavors, culture, and warmth of Mexico.

Like its larger sister resort, Grand Velas Boutique offers a range of venues for weddings and events, ensuring that your celebration is just as spectacular as the surroundings.

I had the pleasure of spending a significant amount of time with the wedding planning teams at each of the Velas Resorts during my stay, and I can say that the level of detailed hospitality at each of these properties is certainly carried over into their weddings.
