Four Wedding Color Trends for 2024

By Published On: December 20, 2023

Color palettes affect nearly every decision about a wedding. From bridesmaid’s dresses and coordinating wedding party clothing, floral arrangements, décor, and cake decoration, color has a primary role in nearly every aspect of wedding planning. While some couples choose monochromatic schemes with varying shades of the same color to provide a comforting consistency on their big day, others find that vibrant contrasting hues combine to give their wedding that unique “pop” they are looking for. 2024 wedding color trends appear to offer something for everyone. Here are our four favorite trends for the upcoming wedding season.

Greens

Green is one of the most popular wedding colors in recent years. A variety of green shades to choose from each offer a different mood and ambiance to every wedding. The most popular greens for 2024 are moss, emerald or deep forest, and sage.

Moss and sage are similar greens. They are on the paler side, though moss may be a more vibrant shade while sage gravitates towards pastel. Moss naturally comes in a variety of hues, but the saturated, dynamic green of a forest understory after late July rains cannot be mistaken. Sage, on the other side, is a color associated with high desert landscapes, alongside rusty reds, burnt oranges, golden yellows and neutral tans. Besides the nostalgia associated with the southwestern hue, there is a signature scent that sage is known for. An earthy, herbaceous aroma that drifts on dry air and penetrates the nose with its sweet scent, sage is an all-around sensory experience.

Emerald and forest greens are similar shades as well. While they appear to be nearly the same shade, emerald may be associated with more of a satin, jewel-like finish, and forest is typically a natural matte color. Depth of color is becoming increasingly popular in the wedding scene, and the heavy, saturated, dark greens are celebrated for their intensity.

Pinks

Like greens, pinks are gaining popularity in monochromatic wedding color schemes. Pinks can also create specific ambiance depending on the chosen shade. Dusty rose, pale blush, and rosewood are three favored hues of pink for 2024.

Dusty Rose is a pale pink that has a vaguely burnt illusion to it. It has the same elegant sentimentality of sage and is reminiscent of soft sunset clouds that hover gently over an endless desert horizon. Dusty rose is a mature but slightly understated color that can succeed individually or paired with other colors of similar tone.

Pale Blush is a light, pure pink that has the vitality of a spring pastel. It is airy, fresh, and youthful without sacrificing sophistication. Pale blush is perfect for spring and summer with its energy and vivacity.

Rosewood is a deep earthy pink that mimics the tree of the same name. It has a dark, woody appearance that is intensely saturated and heavy, similar to emerald and forest green. This depth of pigment gives the color a more universal appeal and it is less restricted to seasonal patterns and trends.

Bold Color

Bold, bright pops of color are trending for 2024 weddings. This includes the combination of contrasting vibrant blues, yellows, pinks, oranges and reds, but the colors all still correlate in a beautiful and bright artful display. Floral displays are often perfect outlets for exciting, vivid and intuitive combinations that add brilliant displays of bold color to any wedding. Bold color stands out and attracts attention against the neutral and white backdrop of a traditional American wedding.

Coordinated Intentional Mismatching

Coordinated yet intentional mismatching is trending for themed seasonal weddings. These are often planned around an entire color palette rather than one specific color. Fall weddings, which are the most popular seasonal weddings in America, are built around palettes that typically include green, orange, yellow, and red. While these colors may seem contradictory on paper, they coordinate and blend seamlessly to create an aesthetic that draws inspiration from an entire season. Spring weddings tend to draw more influence from pastel pinks, blues, and neutrals. Winter weddings gravitate toward deeper, more saturated hues, such as navy, emerald, indigo, and burgundy. Intentional mismatching can include bridesmaid’s dresses of different colors but chosen from one singular color palette. This can then be tied together with floral arrangements and décor that coordinates with all of those colors. Coordinated intentional mismatching can allow for greater creativity and choice among the wedding party while still providing a mature and cultured experience.

These four wedding color trends for 2024 are unique and animated options that may help you plan your dream wedding. From simple yet elegant monochromatic designs to bold and bright contrasting colors against traditional clean white backdrops, or even creative freedom that is complementary and stylish, these four wedding color trends have something that is right for you and your partner.
