6. Castle Farms

Charlevoix’s Castle Farms is a stunning, fairy tale venue that is pet friendly! Castle Farms allows pets to be leashed for ceremonies and photos. Pets must be taken off site after photos before the reception, so make sure you have a place for your pet to go after photos as well as a handler chosen for this.

7. Mission Point Resort

Located on Mackinac Island, this stunning resort is on the sunrise side of the island. Mission Point Resort is pet friendly as they have dog friendly rooms to stay in, allow your pup in any outdoor seating for restaurants, and for your special day will also offer pet sitting if needed.

8. White Birch Lodge

White Birch Lodge is a stunning venue located on the shores of Elk Lake. The venue allows dogs for all ceremonies and outdoor locations. Dogs are not allowed inside accommodation units, so they encourage you to find someone to take your pet offsite for the reception.

9. The Barn at Higgins Lake

Located in Roscommon, you will find this beautiful, rustic barn that is very pet friendly. The Barn at Higgins Lake allows friendly dogs on their stunning 13 acre property. They allow dogs on ceremony grass, walking up the aisle, and your pup can be there for photos and the reception as long as they are leashed. They do have space inside the groom’s room to bring a crate for your pet, so picking a handler to help assist with bringing in/out your dog will be important.

1o. Trillium Creek Rustic Barn Venue

Located in Ludington, Trillium Creek Rustic Barn Venue is a premier West Michigan venue that is beautiful and dog friendly! With lots of outdoor areas, your pup is allowed to be in the wedding and on the property (but not inside the house). However, your pooch does need to be moved off site after the ceremony and photos.

If a venue isn’t on this list, we encourage calling them and asking as many do not advertise this option but do allow it! When contacting venues to see if they are pet friendly, something to also ask is if your pet can come with you when you tour the venue, go onsite for tastings, or during floor plan meetings. Also, double check they are accepted during rehearsals as well.  This way your pet has plenty of time to get used to the space before they are there on your special day getting lots of attention.

After finding a venue that allows your furry best friend to be there for your special day, a big tip would be to find someone to be their “handler” for the day as well. We would suggest finding someone who is close to the dog but also someone who will not be needed for photos, standing in the ceremony, etc. This way your precious pup has someone caring for them for the day if needed and you can be less worried about how they are doing.
